Here are some super useful tips adapted from the Los Angeles Department of Public Health, May 2020. Every country will have specific guidelines. However, I suspect that global guidelines will overlap.
Limit the children in a classroom, to a maximum of 10 (depending on the size of the room). This will minimise potential cross-contagion.
Re-design the layout of each classroom, to maintain a 2 metre distance. I expect that this will be easier in an infant classroom where children are not mobile.
In light of the physical distancing regulations, review the traditional circle time and other activities that normally allow for large group activities.
Prevent the sharing of toys and materials. Rather, prepare washable packs or bags for each child and place such materials in the bag, which can be labelled.
During nap time, cribs/cots/beds should be placed a minimum of 2 metres apart.
Develop activities that model and reinforce high standards of hygiene and social/physical distancing.
Stagger activities such as outdoor play time or meal times, so that no two groups are in the same place at the same time.
All play equipment, tables, chairs etc should be sanitised regularly throughout the day.
As we know, the situation is changing and evolving on a daily basis. Practical experience will count and we will continue to research and up date our subscribers.
